A Dream Too Late signed with Tooth and Nail with the help of their association with members of Falling Up, even touring together at one point. The trio from Albany, OR, does its best to imitate its pals' bright indie rock with plenty of synth and conscious hooks. It works well to a point. The weaknesses of the album — vague lyrics and indistinct riffs — are more indicative of the limitations of the genre than they are of the band. Few groups are able to turn power pop/emo into something truly unique, and although Intermission to the Moon showcases some impressive songwriting, it still falls short of the genre-defining standards like Mae's The Everglow and Anberlin's Cities.
