Medicine Bag (Blue)

After scrapping his planned concept album Possessed, ABK returned with Medicine Bag, a pleasingly loose and casual effort from the Psychopathic label’s funkiest — or better yet, Funkdoobiest — artist. Right from the opening title cut, ABK — and that’s Anybody Killa for the non-Juggaloos — bounces off the beat like he was a Cypress Hill affiliate, but the Insane Clown Posse-like subject matter is entirely Psychopathic, with horror and hatchet men running the show. Fans of the label can jump right to the ICP team-up “Keep It Wicked,” which features ghost noises, ghetto beats, and the quintessential Psychopathic line “I don’t wear skinny jeans/These nuts need room to hang.” Crotch-grabbing and employing demons for revenge are all over the effort, but get past the usual Juggaloo juvenilia and ABK reveals himself as one of Psychopathic's more talented artists, delivering amusing lines and memorable choruses while handling much of the production in a style close to label boss Mike E. Clark.
