Sounding like an even more breathy Janet Jackson, Akia debuts with Atruprncss, a sweet and sexy EP that ends too soon. The smooth party anthem "California" is as sunny and fun as the state it name checks, and "I Still Miss You" is an agreeable breakup ballad with the singer realizing that her pink Navigator can't mend her broken heart. The sly "Pink Panties" claims to be about the popular lemonade and vodka cocktail, and when Akia throws around the double entendres like an inner city Mae West, it becomes the obvious highlight. Six tracks — with one being a remix — aren't enough to give Akia a distinct personality yet, but for anyone looking for a Janet that can still speak to the streets, this will do nicely.
