Details
[Edit]1996's Black Marble & Sweet Fire combines the styles of Indian and Northern African music in a poignant recollection of the Mughal era of the waning Indian empire of the 18th and 19th centuries. The results are exotic and modern, updating the regional styles by placing them in a rhythmic, electronic setting. Sitars, synthesizers, and Eastern and Western percussion join as Khan and his collaborator Kai Taschner create a new musical landscape. Tracks include "Ghazal de Savoy" and "Night Crossing."
