Reason to Sing

The Tennessee-based duo All Sons & Daughters bring a simplicity and grace to worship music. Their second EP, Reason to Sing, builds on the strengths of their debut, with songs that find God’s glory amid moments of suffering and doubt. Members Leslie Jordan and David Leonard blend their voices in praise, accompanied by sparsely atmospheric settings built on acoustic guitar, piano, and synths. The songs here are presented with confessional intimacy, making their words of devotion all the more powerful. Reason to Sing’s title track sets the EP’s tone with its acknowledgement of spiritual weakness and gratitude for salvation. All Sons & Daughters’ affinity for country and folk sounds comes through in “Oh Our Lord” and “Buried in the Grave,” while “Spirit Speaks” and “All Praise to You” enhance their modern pop sounds with a classical tinge. The yearning “Wake Up” builds from a stark opening into a full-throated anthem of reverence.
