Details
[Edit]On his fifth album, troubadour Amos Lee offers an individualistic take on Americana that shifts seamlessly between the introspective and the explosive. The dizzying swirl of the psychedelic roots-rocker "Stranger" and the imposing, bluesy stomp of the apocalyptic "High Water" rub shoulders with easy-rolling, reflective ballads like "Johnson Blvd." and "Chill in the Air." Somehow it all coheres with a deceptive effortlessness. When the slinky, '70s-informed soul-funk of "The Man Who Wants You" ups the groove quotient, the deal is sealed with a sizzle.
