Here's more from Ancient Future, the longest performing world fusion group, formed in 1978. Original compositions are interwoven with chords that may sound exotic to Western ears, from such instruments as sitar, bansuri, esraj, tabla, and sarod. Yet the melody's exquisite loveliness, as on "Moonbath," surely communicates a universal harmony that listeners worldwide will appreciate. "Zzaj" is a lovely, ethereal number, vibrant with sitar and lilting flute. Particularly intriguing is the tabla bol recitation on the latter part of "Incandescence," that weaves intricate patterns of vocalization in with the instrumentals. This was originally recorded in 1979, while the original members of Ancient Future were studying North Indian classical music at the Ali Akbar College of Music with Ali Akbar Khan and Zakir Hussain. Visions of a Peaceful Planet is highly recommended for listeners who enjoy the best of world fusion.
