This album is not a tepid rehashing of the old songs; harpists Mary Anderson and Joanne Meis demonstrate their artistry on Celtic Spirit in arranging and technique. Played mellifluously on nylon-strung neo-Celtic harps, these traditional tunes are imbued with new vitality and tenderness. Songs include "Scarborough Fair," "Lark in the Morning," "Barbara Allen," and the inspiring "Star of the County Down." It is an unusual pairing for simply two Celtic harpers to play together, but these two skilled Canadians more than rise to the occasion. This inviting release is a beautiful collection of ballads, marches and lullabies to soothe and uplift the weary spirit. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi
