[Edit]The third Andre Williams album of 2012—following Hoods and Shades and Night & Day—Life further proves that senior status doesn't necessarily mean retirement. At 75, Williams is working as hard as ever and having a great time doing it, if the joy on these records is any indication. With producer Matthew Smith (Outrageous Cherry) running the backing band with fellow Detroit rockers Jim Diamond and David Shettler, the music ranges from loose R&B to early rock 'n' roll, reggae, and early '70s–style psych-punk. Williams gets down on animal abusers with "Don't Kick My Dog" and turns an eye toward politics with a humorous yet jaundiced view on "Blame It on Obama," where even his wife's straying eyes find their root cause with the president. Williams doesn't let age stop his appreciation for the simple pleasures ("Heels"). Even a remake of "Shake a Tail Feather" maintains the energy of his early days.
