[Edit]"If we all threw our weight around/We could rock the boat" sings Andrea Koziol. Preferring to not "rock the boat" musically, the singer methodically entrances the listener with a gorgeous voice that comes from the theory that less is so much more. Moving easily from jazz to contemporary pop in a song like "Rock the Boat," Koziol has a lot of depth to her often quirky lyrics. But it's the simplicity of both the song structure and tone that allow her to get the most from the overall production. "Tell It Like It Is" appears to be the runaway highlight although it's rather standard jazz fare, but the brief lullaby quality of "Mercy" is a close second. "Sucker" changes course from the blueprint, a funk pop song which works upon the start of the chorus. In short, a terrific album. If only it was this simple for every musician.
