Andy Pratt's Another World finds him exploring his Christian faith, struggling with issues of accepting love from God and living out his life the way he feels he should. The recording is a laid-back affair, with Pratt's tenor and Elton John-style piano the main attractions. He still has a gift with melody, and retains some of his unique vocal style, but with less falsetto than his 1970's recordings. There is also less of an R&B or jazz influence on this record than others, and thus it feels closer to MOR in tone than his earlier records. A sameness in tone and mood starts to pervade the record, unfortunately. However, it is not without its pleasant moments. The opening cut, ("Another World"), charms with its extended piano stylings, and "Forgiving Spirit" comes across as a catchy confessional prayer, featuring effective sax playing by Christian Grotenburg. Other cuts add recorder and cello and bring color to particular songs. While this is not Pratt's best record, it is never less than professional throughout, and those who thought he was too eccentric on former albums may enjoy this one.
