[Edit]Had Wisconsin troubadour Anna Vogelzang come of age in California or Chicago or New York City, she’d likely be better known at this point. Surely her low profile has nothing to do with her abilities. On her 2014 EP Driftless, she demonstrates her range with ease. “Amarillo” opens with a ukulele and quickly builds into a catchy folk-pop tune loaded with positive visualizations. “Vanguard,” “Mercy," and “Why Not” capture her somber side, with simple, effective instrumentation that creates a perfectly reflective mood. Her resilient heart dominates “Lion.” Home and the road assert their romantic longings on “Kay.” Driftless is an EP with the depth of an LP.
