[Edit]Pianist Armen Donelian and tenor saxophonist Marc Mommaas perform duets on three originals and two standards. Their improvisations are relaxed and often lyrical yet quite explorative. Mommaas has a flexible sound and shows versatility while Donelian provides both a rhythmic foundation (even when playing out of tempo) and a strong solo voice. The closer, Donelian's "Stargazer," is the most memorable performance and the challenging piece deserves to become a jazz standard. This is intriguing music that holds one's interest throughout.
