Details
[Edit]The only reason that this double-CD set doesn't get a higher rating is that the competition is so stiff — the fact is, Ashley Hutchings has delivered far more records of an excellent nature or better across a four-decade-plus career than most artists have delivered records. As to this release, it's derived from a 2004 live show at Huntington Hall, Worcester, featuring Hutchings and his 21st century group the Rainbow Chasers, which consists of Jo Hamilton, Ruth Angell, and Mark Hutchinson, running through a mix of traditional and contemporary (in traditional style) folk material. The feel of the performance is free and easy, and coupled with a near-perfect technical recording, presents something of an idealized concert document. There is also a somewhat longer DVD account available of the same performance.
