Asia is an interesting concept: a group of progressive-rock veterans coming together to make accessible pop-rock music. Former members of Yes, U.K., Emerson Lake and Palmer and King Crimson aren’t expected to be concise. Yet, that’s exactly what Asia brought with their self-titled debut album back in the early ‘80s and it’s the same exacting formula that brings forth the bright hooks of “I Don’t Wanna Lose You Now” and “Finger On the Trigger.” The band’s moderate rock has an ageless quality that sounds like it was made for modern rock radio. The band’s instrumental pedigree can never be questioned. And while they may never reach the commercial heights of “Heat of the Moment,” they will surely please fans of their charged-up version of arena rock with readymades such as “Holy War,” “Listen Children” and  “Light The Way. The band turns it down a notch for the melodious “Through My Veins,” “Ever Yours” and “There Was a Time,” where the warm synths and other keyboards create a sensitive epic quality that can only be made by veterans of the classic-rock music wars.
