[Edit]The Menge series has found itself a new home, thankfully rescued by Richard Chartier after the closing of the Mille Plateaux/Ritornell/Force Inc. empire in the early part of the 2000s. This latest installment is probably the most challenging listening not only in the series, but in Tietchens' entire output. Largely relying on space and dynamics, Tietchens takes cues from colleagues William Basinski and Line co-mastermind Taylor Deupree and concentrates on eerie atmospherics and washes throughout the four "Teilmenge" pieces, layering sharp electronic glitches and melodies on top and giving the otherwise easy-flowing pieces a sharp shot in the arm.
