When singer Tobias Sammet started his Avantasia project in 2001, it was a mere studio project, but in 2008, following the release of third album The Scarecrow, he managed to organize a world tour for his ambitious "metal opera." Flying Opera documents this tour with live performances recorded at Wacken and Masters of Rock, with a set list that encompasses songs from The Scarecrow and its predecessors, The Metal Opera and The Metal Opera, Vol. 2. The two-CD/two-DVD set includes these performances in both CD and DVD form and adds some behind-the-scenes footage and a few video clips; there's also a CD/DVD package that omits the concert DVD (for buyers who want to get the Blu-ray version, for example), but does include the behind-the-scenes DVD.
