The banda superstars return to their roots to celebrate the folklore of their native Sinaloa on the purely instrumental Raíces. It's a rhythmically fierce album that boasts pulsing tuba grooves and high-energy tambora percussion. Their rendition of the classic regional “El Sinaloense” is a boisterous opener that leads listeners into their glorious, horn-driven sounds. They go the Mexican polka route in the delightful “Corazón De Texas,” where clarinets and trumpets triumph; in “Cinco De Té,” big brass impressively interweave over a tempo fast enough to inspire a quebradita dance-off.
