Details
[Edit]Born Barbara Trzetzelewska in Poland, Basia has had a long and successful career. She sang with the popular Polish bands Alibabki and Perfect during the ‘70s before relocating to London and finding hits with the group Matt Bianco in the early ‘80s. Her solo debut, Time and Time, dropped in 1987 and went platinum, as did its followup, London, Warsaw, New York, with multiple singles topping the contemporary jazz charts. She continued recording during the '90s, though she left music altogether later in the decade. Her first new album in almost 15 years, 2009’s It's That Girl Again, dominated smooth jazz radio with the ultra-catchy, bossa nova–inspired single "If Not Now Then When." From Newport to London is a great live album, featuring 15 of her best-known songs recorded live in concert in Lodz, Poland, as well as three new tracks (a remix of "There's a Tear," a duet entitled "Wandering," and the title track). Don't miss "Drunk on Love," "Astrud," and "A Gift."
