Details
[Edit]With help from the weird dog on the cover and (more importantly) the production duo the Dust Brothers, Beck created his most successful, fun, and lively album to date with 1996's Odelay. Here the disparate elements that fuel Beck's music—blues, Latin jazz, folk, funk, and rap—collide with glorious results. Instead of the lo-fi quirks found on Mellow Gold you get a fuller sound that can't help but force you to turn up the stereo. "Devil's Haircut" and "The New Pollution" channel fierce hip-hop energy into what are essentially party songs. Album closer "Ramshackle" is anything but' it's one of Beck's finest stabs at a traditional folk song, complete with retro-sitar touches.
