[Edit]Few people listening to this CD would guess that Benny Waters (heard exclusively on alto) was 91. Waters (a veteran of the 1920s) plays with such power and confidence throughout the standards and blues that he could pass for 51. With an excellent European rhythm section (pianist Thilo Wagner, bassist Jan Jankeje and drummer Gregor Beck) helping him out, the underrated but distinctive swing stylist is heard in top form, making this European import CD from Germany highly recommended.
