Details
[Edit]Bigwig's sophomore release through punk label Fearless Records finds the New Jersey natives returning to familiar ground, poking fun at most everything while still incorporating enjoyable punk diatribes into the mix. An Invitation to Tragedy is an album that finds solace in humor, and these four young men are yet again looking for laughs. One of the better songs on the album is the track "Sore Losers," in which frontman Tom Peta makes the childhood statement, "My mom can beat up your mom/My dad can beat up your dad." While immature, the listener will have a hard time suppressing their chuckles at the slightly obnoxious taunt. Bigwig helps to prove punk can be fun; unfortunately, in doing so they come across as a second-rate Green Day. This is punk at its most enjoyable, albeit not the most adult. ~ Jason D. Taylor, Rovi
