[Edit]Nine Stories Wide marks the third release as a leader for young jazz guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg. Equally influenced by rock, standards, prog rock, show tunes, and classical guitar, Kreisberg easily adapts to whatever form he's interested in presenting. Assisted by jazz veterans Larry Grenadier on bass and Bill Stewart on drums, Kreisberg effortlessly glides through compositions of Gershwin, Charlie Parker, the Beatles, and Wayne Shorter, not to mention his original arrangements: the compelling rhythms of "Dana," "Fever Vision," and a light touch on the ballad "That Reminds Me." A satisfying disc from a versatile guitarist.
