Sulfer and Semen

G.G. Allin created a genre affectionately known as scum rock, and the underground "supergroup," Birds of Prey, may have just come up with their own take of the aforementioned genre — "scum metal" — upon the release of 2008's Sulfur and Semen. Comprised of former members of such bands as Burnt by the Sun, Melt Banana, Alabama Thunderpussy, and Baroness (among others), Birds of Prey are about as in-your-face, vulgar, and politically incorrect as you can get in the early 21st century. If you don't believe it (their album title should have tipped you off earlier), just take a gander at some of their oh-so-cuddly song titles — "Bleed, Blister or Cum," "To My Victims' Families," "Overfucked and Underage." Yep, this is an album that would most definitely make Tipper Gore's hair stand on end (and with the last song title — probably Chris Hansen's, as well). Expectedly, the music is as raw and raunchy as you can imagine, as evidenced by such tracks as "Mentoring the Mongoloids," while "Satisfy the .45" contains a guitar riff (and even vocal melody) very reminiscent of Megadeth's "Symphony of Destruction." Birds of Prey choose controversy over originality on Sulfur and Semen, and the chaps certainly succeed.
