[Edit]The title cut on the We Offer Christ CD is often used as the invitational hymn at Greater St. Stephens Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans The song, penned by Greater St. Stephen's minister of music, Phillip Britton, has a special appeal in its sincere simplicity. It is sung on the CD by the church's senior pastor, Bishop Paul S. Morton, backed by the Greater St. Stephens Mass Choir. The power of these voices has brought many to the altar, seeking salvation or membership in the great church of 20,000 people. Both Morton and the GSS Mass Choir are internationally renowned for their musical abilities. The GSS Mass Choir have been awarded the coveted Stellar Award for best contemporary gospel choir in the nation. Morton has a singular power to get the message over, which has earned him the esteem of an international audience. He possesses a beautiful voice, but it is more than that; he will tell you that it is the power of the Holy Ghost working through him that deserves the praise. That compelling quality can be heard on the tune "Your Tears," one of the great pastor's most popular hits. When he sings that "God is going to wipe all of your tears away," you cannot help but believe him: he has the conviction of a true believer. Morton's interpretation of the freedom song "We Shall Overcome" exemplifies his unique style, which combines heartfelt singing across multiple octaves and ministerial exhortations. He is ably backed by the outstanding voices of choir members such as Bryan Pierce and Monica Robinson, as well as the musicians. Chief among these is keyboardist Michael Robinson, whose piano solos can cause a congregation to shout. Joel Britton also offers the right touch on the organ. The CD offers listeners the opportunity to step inside a real gospel experience to spread the Good News, in which, as Morton often notes, "the message is in the music."
