[Edit]This 2010 EP comprises two movements that total 23 minutes and 12 seconds. The opening “Illumination” plays for more than 15 minutes, but following a series of sludgy Sabbath-esque riffs, Andy Beresky comes in singing at the 2:15 mark (which is lightning-quick in the metal world). Even in its lengthy duration, “Illumination” was crafted to keep the most ADD-riddled fans engaged with clever song structures, unpredictable changes, and vocal melodies catchy enough to remember. “Warswine” makes no apologies about borrowing from Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” as Beresky rails against the defense industry, blending the low-tenor wails of early Ozzy Osbourne with the throaty croon of Saint Vitus’ Scott Weinrich.
