Bluetile Lounge are an Australian quartet that offer up a solid record with their debut, Lowercase. At first notice, Bluetile Lounge take their direct cues from Codeine, focusing on the slow tempos. Where Codeine tell their rainy day tale in three or four minutes, Bluetile Lounge's average song clocks in at nine minutes, a detail that may leave some impatient. Two guitars, bass, and drums make up this unit. The guitars provide picking weaves to paint the picture. Bass and melodic vocals seam the songs together, while the drums, having the hardest task, are the backbone for the operation. These are delicate songs that rely on subtle builds and dynamics. It is hard to think of the record as five individual songs, rather, a record or piece played to create a certain mood.
