The Australian synth-pop band Boxcar released its New Order-inspired debut album Vertigo in 1990. Although the remix album Revision was released in 1992, it took Boxcar several years to record a follow-up; Algorhythm finally appeared in 1996.

Although the New Order influence is still obvious, Boxcar begins to incorporate house music elements on Algorhythm. "What Are You So Happy About?" and "People Get High" are perfect for clubs, and the rest of the album is consistently danceable and melodic. An impressive second effort from Boxcar; unfortunately, the album was never released stateside. Algorhythm is lightweight fluff, but it sure is catchy.
