Details
[Edit]Trickle Down is the debut album from Fargo's folk singer Brenda Weiler. This album is packed with excellent songs, especially when you consider that this is the work of a relatively young artist. The sound, with its basic instrumentation of acoustic guitar and sparse accompaniment, can easily be compared to early Ani Difranco. The songs, like Difranco's, are extremely personal ("95") and, at times, topical ("Tight"), but it's Weiler's voice, always clear and powerful, that truly carries this disc and sets her apart. Trickle Down is full of pretty songs and pretty melodies — so much so that there isn't too much variety. It would be nice to hear the album's production get a little rougher around the edges; however, the songs here are interesting enough to carry the whole album. Trickle Down is a very confident debut from a promising young artist.
