[Edit]Before this installment in the 20th Century Masters series was released, there were two ways to go with Brian McKnight compilations: the single-disc From There to Here: 1989-2002 and the two-disc Gold. This disc is easily the least thorough of the three, containing only ten cuts (true to the series' form), but it focuses on the singer's most popular singles, such as "Back at One," "One Last Cry," "You Should Be Mine (Don't Waste Your Time)," and "Crazy Love" — all of which were Top Ten hits on the R&B chart. There are some questionable picks, though, like the inclusion of "Win" (a very minor hit, from The Men of Honor soundtrack), which squeezes out "Hold Me" (number 12 R&B; number 35 Hot 100). Still, this is a decent summary of McKnight's first four proper studio albums. [The version sold exclusively at Circuit City makes the wise choice of adding "Hold Me" to the original track list.]
