Bronco pioneered accessible country music in Mexico in the early '80s using a slick synthesized tropical sound to win over fans who would have thought their contemporaries too "corriente". This disc starts off on an effervescent high note with the infectious title track, then slowly winds down the intensity and interest over the next half-hour or so. At least Bronco sustains it for longer than most other artists in the pop vein whose discs die quick deaths after the designated hit. The cheesy tropical synth sound has aged well, and virtually has its own ethnic dimension now. Bronco almost manages to keep its conjunto/cantina credibility, as well, on a few of the other tracks. But these guys were industry dinosaurs from the start, and it shows on this disc as much as any other. ~ J. Chandler, Rovi
