Much of the collection dates to the mid-'60s, and tracks such as "Mother Nature, Father Time" and "Too Much Good Lovin' (No Good for Me)" trace the evolution of Benton's smooth, lush sound during that time. Though this period of his career didn't generate as many hits as his earlier or later years, Essential Vik and RCA Victor Recordings proves that this era is just as enjoyable as his more famous work.
