Details
[Edit]An underground emcee from New York, Cage went through a crazy childhood that included severe abuse, drug addiction, scrapes with the law, and extensive time in a mental institution. Channeling his drama into music, he dropped his breakout 12-inch ("Agent Orange" b/w "Radiohead") in 1997, embracing his troubles on songs and winning fans around the world captivated by his ever-twisted rhymes. Over the years he'd work extensively with indie-rap powerhouse labels Def Jux, Rawkus, and Eastern Conference, releasing much-loved albums like Music for the Blind and Porn Again (with Smut Peddlers), plus forming The Weathermen crew. His last full-length, 2009's Depart from Me, was kind of on the rap-rock tip. This one could best be described as seriously emo, with Mighty Mi providing a soundtrack of extremely morose, slow-motion, almost depressing beats, which fit Cage's angsty, autobiographical verses to a T. If you've closely followed his journey over the years, you'll probably love this. Highlights here include "The Hunt," "They Suck," and "Road Kill."
