It continues to amaze me that people keep snapping up Bonnie Raitt's recent snoozeramas while Carla Olson continues to go relatively unnoticed. A "female Tom Petty" is the easy comparison, but Olson is definitely her own roots-rockin' woman. Wave of the Hand gathers choice material from her former band the Textones, the excellent So Rebellious a Lover collaboration with ex-Byrds Gene Clark, several solo albums, and three newly recorded tracks. Guests and sidemen who know a good thing when they hear it include Mick Taylor, Ry Cooder, Ian McLagan, Percy Sledge, and Don Henley.
