Details
[Edit]With the popularity of The Gypsy Kings and the amazin' Ottmar Liebert, this fantastic trio should hit it big. Churun Meru starts out with a fairly mainstream groove, not too fast or dazzling but not too slow or uninteresting either. Carlos plays electroacoustic Venezuelan harp, and the two members of Desvio play guitars and percussion and drums. By the fourth cut, new atmospherics are introduced, and a magic ride for the next four to five cuts ensues. Much of the exotic nature comes from the array of percussion instruments used, with some of it played by Carlos along with several special guests. For anyone not afraid to dance along the boundaries between jazz and new age/worldbeat sounds, this album may become a favorite. Churun Meru (Angel Falls in English) are, at 3, 300 feet, the world's tallest waterfalls, nestled in the jungles of Venezuela. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi
