For Remixed on the 24th of July, the folks at Peacefrog call upon nearly every single relevant artist in their massive stable to amass a super-remix LP on par with Jazzanova's remixed CD set released a few months prior. With everyone taking a single track from Remixed's parent album (Born on the 24th of July), the all-star lineup takes turns presenting original compositions from a different angle. The ambient washes and lush arrangements of "Put Your Hurt Aside" (beautifully recrafted by the Detroit Escalator Co.) are an ideal liftoff launchpad to a plethora of soul-jazz remixes courtesy of Pépé Bradock, Ian O'Brien, United Future Organization, Jimpster, and Herbert — all before being bookended by cut-and-paste guru Matthew Herbert and another Detroit cult producer Theo Parrish. While it doesn't quite match up to Webster's brilliance on Born on the 24th of July, it certainly comes close, making this is an interesting supplement to an already exciting record.
