Details
[Edit]One of the more interesting curios to emerge from the space age pop revival, Charles Wilp's sole LP is a mystery wrapped in an enigma and smothered in secret sauce — how or why this influential German photographer even came to release an album in his name is unknown, and though he's credited with production, it's likely that his true musical involvement in the project was minimal. The concept and execution boast all the hallmarks of his work, however, and that's what's most important. The record is playfully erotic, complete with cooing female voices and languorous, porn-like melodies that wonderfully evoke the pop art sensuality of Wilp's cheesecake photos, a number of which are reproduced on the sleeve. Had Michelangelo Antonioni's classic film Blowup forgone its rock & roll soundtrack for a more easy listening sound, Wilp's music would have been a perfect fit.
