Details
[Edit]Yer Last Record is a fine continuation of the sobering mechanics of Refried Dreams and a well-performed, self-confessed conclusion to the emotionally distorted trilogy that began with 1997's Forgive Thee. If not for the album's obvious cathartic nature, it might be hard to admire the band's conscious move toward identifiable, old-fashioned rock grief. "Train of Dreams" and the eight-minute "Green Light" are muddy and meditative — Redd Kross with a hangover stare. A hollowness seeps into the music, too, that's integrated more successfully than on previous attempts. You can make out Ray Davies as well as an Indian influence in "Stop Breeding," which goes a long way to make Yer Last Record the most interesting of the three, but also the most fractured and least content and consistent.
