[Edit]As musician and ethnomusicologist, Phong Nguyen is one of the major international figures of Vietnamese music. Here he joins other expatriate musicians (including the 77-year-old master of the dan nguyet lute, Nguyen Cia Cam) to perform a wide range of traditional and contemporary music. (These recordings were made at two WMI concerts in New York City.) Excellent recording, notes, and production as always with the World Music Institute.
