[Edit]Bassist Christian Minh Doky's second recording as a leader is particularly notable for his six strong and diverse originals and some of the finest playing by saxophonist Bill Evans on records; listen to him caress the melody of "Alone" or jam over the closing vamp on "Falling In Love With Love." With guitarist Ulf Wakenius, Christian's older brother pianist Niels Lan Doky (showcased on "Falling In Love With Love") and drummer Adam Nussbaum completing the quintet, there are no weak points to either the band or the program. Christian Minh Doky's improvisations are impressive (he does not feel compelled this time around to dominate the solo spotlight) and the musicians blend together quite well into an appealing group sound. This is an excellent set of modern postbop jazz, well worth acquiring.
