[Edit]Working out of the Barry White school of romantic certainty, Chuck Roberson has been turning out soul pieces since the mid-'70s, all without really breaking through to a mass public, although he certainly knows how to sing in the old classic soul style. In the 1990s he recorded several albums for Ecko Records, and this collection selects some of the best tracks from those releases and adds two previously unreleased songs plus a remix of another. Again, Roberson sings great, but the material simply doesn't really rise to the level of his vocal skills. It's telling that the two previously unreleased sides, "Let's Slip Out Tonight," which features an ultra-smooth and soulful vocal from Roberson, and the slick blues "You Put the Hoodoo on the Hoodoo Man," are arguably the strongest tracks here.
