[Edit]Deed of Trust owes significant debts to Gram Parsons and Bob Dylan's John Wesley Harding. On a number of tracks, particularly "Brown Eyed Biloxi Queen" and "Sweet Sad Eyed Susanna Blue," Steve Fisher's nasal twang is virtually indistinguishable from Dylan's, and his songs are imbued with romantic country imagery. The album favors medium tempos and spare arrangements, save for the atmospheric "Time's Up" and the hard-rocking closer "Midnight Traffic."
