Details
[Edit]The soundtrack for Cirque du Soleil’s 2010 production Totem, which was described as an examination of “the evolution of mankind from its primordial, amphibian state toward the aspiration of flight, taking inspiration from many of mankind’s founding myths” was composed by Guy Dubuc and Marc Lessard. In keeping with the primal theme of the production, the composers crafted a percussive, wildly inventive mish-mash of international flavors, with a heavy reliance on the Native American, Spanish, and Indian cultures. Larger than life and a little overstuffed, Totem, like all Cirque du Soleil projects, manages to deftly walk the line between spirited worldbeat and overproduced new age music.
