Details
[Edit]This is Clarence Carter displaying his singing skills on material made famous by others, with "Too Weak to Fight" and "Slip Away" being the sole exceptions. It's not hard-hitting or raunchy like Carter's usual sets (many will say it's watered-down), but it's always interesting listening to a great recording artist doing good songs. The most compelling updates include Carter's remakes of "Backstabbers" and "Everybody Plays the Fool" (both with nice backing vocals); "Easy" (incorrectly listed as "I'm Easy" with erroneous songwriters [this is the Commodores' cut]); Dobie Gray's "Drift Away"; and Carter's hit rendition of Chairmen of the Board's "Patches." Carter mimics the original singers so well on some of these cuts that sometimes you don't think it's him.
