Details
[Edit]The Clientele began their career releasing singles and EPs that gently introduced the U.K. retro-pop group to the world. While the band has graduated from lo-fi beginnings into a professional recording-studio outfit, they haven’t lost their interest in releasing smaller bites. This four-song EP ("Enigma" is merely a 41-second piano intro) includes a stripped-down version of "Impossible" (which appears on The Clientele’s next album, Strange Geometry) alongside the imagistic and shimmering "Summer Crowds in Europe," which recalls the band's hazy, dreamy origins best collected on Suburban Light and the EP A Fading Summer. "The Sea Inside a Shell" is an unusually extended piece for the group, a droning eight-and-half-minute tone poem that explores The Clientele’s psychedelic flavor, while "Ariadne Sleeping" is a piano piece. The group is clearly using the EP format to explore alternate ideas.
