Details
[Edit]This 2002 EP was released after The Clientele’s first full-length album, Suburban Light, collected their earliest singles and before their first official studio album, 2003's The Violet Hour. The band's ‘60s influences are in full view. "Emptily Through Holloway" evokes Brian Wilson’s angelic cadences, for starters, and it’s one of the band's most affecting tracks. It never overstays its six-minute welcome, and it's perverse that it should be tucked away on an EP, really. "Boring Postcard" is a random sound piece with nothing to recommend it, but "North School Drive" and "Kelvin Parade" further illuminate the band's early sound, with reverb, acoustic guitars, pianos, and shimmering atmospheres emphasizes The Clientele's subtle grace and deliberately low-key approach. "Last Orders" is a pretty, nocturnal piano instrumental.
