Details
[Edit]Coco Robicheaux is a gritty New Orleans musician that exploits the Crescent City's rich musical traditions in lively arrangements of sassy horns, fluid pedal steel guitar melodies, thumping piano, and more. Robicheaux mostly exhibits a voice akin to Dr. John at his raspiest. This is a man found about hard luck and hard times the hard way. This singer and bluesy guitarist can also effect a soulful tenor, as on the ballad "Love of a Woman," and a coarse country love song "Juanita" includes a tough-guy recitation about loss. The full sounds are of swamp rock that has gone to town. Coco is in touch with all the root sounds of the Big Easy and its environs, but he still manages to work in a Mardi Gras brass band without losing his rugged authenticity.
