On Strange Voices, Col. Bruce Hampton is shown to be well versed in jazz, bluegrass, rock, country, blues, and many other genres. Unfortunately, the result of such eclectic musical background is a bunch of nonsensical tracks with several senseless rants. There are a few listenable tunes among the 26 tracks; however, they are not worthy of digging through the rest of the manure to get to the pony. It's a shame, too, because the lineup of musicians is stellar, but the material fails them. Someone needs to rewrite the history of Strange Voices.
