Country Joe McDonald was a military veteran, a seasoned folk and blues artist, and the editor of an underground newspaper when he decided to cut a record of political tunes in 1966 that led to the formation of one of the leading bands of the San Francisco psychedelic explosion, Country Joe & the Fish. While the group's day in the sun would prove to be short-lived — they broke up in 1970 — McDonald continued on as a solo artist and developed a loyal following as a perceptive, politically conscious singer and songwriter. Entertainment Is My Business is a live album recorded during a 2004 concert in the U.K., with McDonald and his band performing a handful of his best-known songs as well as newer material that chronicles the heyday of the American counterculture as well as his political and social concerns in the 21st century. Selections include "Superbird," "Bass Strings," "Happiness Is a Porpoise Mouth," "Rock & Soul Music," "Summer of Love," "Cakewalk to Baghdad," "Janis," and many more.
