Coyote Oldman is a deep and spiritual duo — Michael Graham Allen and Barry Stramp — performing exotic Native American space music. The Shape of Time has Allen and Stramp out beyond the edges of the universe. In the scheme of things, Allen builds and plays his own flutes and Stramp has recording techniques that give the soundscape its electronic space music feel. They accompany themselves on various acoustic and ethnic instruments. This is pure space music. Stramp's techniques give Allen's flutes a deep drone sound; they surround that drone with wide open atmospheres. This disc has all the appeal of modern American electronic minimalism. This is a classic CD, and fans of Douglas Spotted Eagle, Little Wolf Band, Spirit Nation, and R. Carlos Nakai will love this disc. It is an essential album for all collectors of Native American music, space music, electronic minimalism, and pastoral ambience.
